According to border military sources and Thai media reports, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and allied forces have been conducting intense attacks on military council camps in Myawaddy Township along the Thai-Myanmar border in Karen State, with fierce battles continuing throughout the night. On May 21 at 7 AM, the allied forces attacked the military council’s Maw Kee camp in the Waw Law area south of Myawaddy town near the Thai-Myanmar border. On May 22, they launched offensives against the military council’s positions at Waw Lay, Kaneley, Black Do, and Thay Baw Bo. During the battles, KNLA allied forces conducted continuous drone strikes while the military council responded with aircraft and drone operations.
Border military sources confirmed that the operations were primarily led by KNLA battalions from KNU Brigade 6 and their allied forces. The Thai military has increased its presence along the Thai-Myanmar border and maintains constant surveillance of the fighting situation on the Myanmar side. Thai military sources stated that their forces, police, and multiple agencies have been deployed along the river border to prevent armed groups from crossing into Thai territory. Security measures have been heightened to monitor the situation.
During March, April, and May, revolutionary forces led by the KNLA successfully captured several military council camps near the Thai-Myanmar border, including Pu Lu Tu, Khlay Day, Thaw Bi Khi, Maw Pa Thur, Ta Lay, Mae La, and Maw Poe Kay camps through consecutive operations. Currently, only about four military council camps remain along the Thai-Myanmar border, including Naw Ta Ya, Mae Tha Waw, Maw Ra Lee, and Naw Ta. The KNLA has announced their intention to continue operations to capture the remaining military council positions in the area.
