A military council major and four other soldiers were killed in a mine attack by resistance forces at North Yama Bridge, which connects Salingyi and Yinmabin townships in Sagaing Region. The attack targeted military council troops providing security for copper trucks, according to an official from Township 2 Black Shadow People’s Defense Force.
The incident occurred around 9:40 AM on May 21, when resistance forces launched a coordinated attack against military council soldiers from Battalion 28 who were providing security for copper trucks from Wampaung. In addition to the five fatalities, including Major Bo Nyan Htun, seven other military council troops were injured in the attack. The operation was jointly carried out by Township 2 Black Shadow People’s Defense Force, Brother Defence Force (BDF), Tawtharkyi People’s Defense Force, and Golden Star Force.
The resistance forces have warned civilians to avoid traveling near the area due to ongoing military presence and the risk of further confrontations. The Black Shadow People’s Defense Force official also called for public support and participation in the revolution, noting their continued need for weapons and ammunition to sustain their resistance operations. The area remains a strategic location for both sides, with resistance forces maintaining their defensive positions while monitoring military council movements in the region.
