During a meeting with youth from the Air and Naval Training Course in Naypyidaw on May 21, military leader Min Aung Hlaing discussed what he claimed were attempts by regional countries to control Myanmar and criticized the previous NLD government’s actions before the 2020 election. He alleged that there were illegal actions and authoritarian practices under the guise of democracy that could lead to the collapse of national unity and balance, emphasizing the need to prevent such occurrences from happening again.
Min Aung Hlaing claimed that both domestic and foreign destructive elements have been attacking Myanmar in various ways for many years. He asserted that foreign interference has been causing instability in Myanmar since its independence, with these forces and their affiliates continuously intervening under the pretext of improvement. He further stated that the constitution had been used to maintain control, and these destructive elements were well aware of Myanmar’s constitutional balance.
Continuing his remarks, Min Aung Hlaing stated that these groups understand that only by destroying this balance could they achieve their malicious plans to destabilize the country and implement their schemes to control other countries in the region using Myanmar as a base. He emphasized that all Myanmar citizens need to be aware of these continuous efforts. Since his return from Russia on May 10, Min Aung Hlaing has been repeatedly criticizing and condemning the NLD government that served from 2015 to 2020 during various military council civilian and military meetings.
