A military outpost of the terrorist military council in Kwin Gyi village, Nattalin Township, Bago Region, was attacked by resistance forces in a three-day operation that resulted in eight casualties on the military council’s side and ended with the destruction of the outpost by fire, according to a responsible person from the Thayarwaddy District People’s Defense Force. The battles took place continuously from May 18 to May 20.
The offensive began at 5:30 AM on May 18 when resistance forces launched their initial attack on Kwin Gyi village and the military outpost. The fighting continued throughout the day, with military council troops from Pyinpyu village providing artillery support using 120mm heavy weapons. On May 19, a reinforcement column of about 70 military council troops from Theinkone Tower Station in Pyay District moved toward Kwin Gyi village, where resistance forces engaged them with mine attacks.
The reinforcement troops entered Kwin Gyi village at 9:45 AM, firing both heavy and light weapons as they advanced and joined forces with those in the outpost. On May 20 at 11:00 AM, military council soldiers attempted to flee from the outpost, leading to pursuit operations by resistance forces along their escape route. At 2:05 PM, resistance forces conducted a final clearing operation of the outpost and destroyed it.
During the three days of fighting, eight military council soldiers were killed, and one resistance fighter was wounded. During the clearing operation, decomposing bodies of soldiers were discovered in the bunkers. The operation was carried out through the coordinated efforts of the People’s Defense Force No. 2 Operations Area, Thayarwaddy District Battalion 1, Nattalin Township People’s Defense Force, and drone units.
