
The Fire Dragon Column has confirmed that five members of the military council forces, including an officer, were killed during an attack on their convoy on the road between Nyaunglebin and Shwegyin townships in Bago Region. The incident occurred on May 18, 2024, at approximately 5:40 PM when members of Battalion 3703’s Fire Dragon force intercepted and attacked the military convoy that was traveling from Nyaunglebin to Shwegyin.
During the attack, the military convoy immediately came to a halt. Despite attempts by the soldiers to return fire, the effective assault resulted in the deaths of five military personnel, including an officer. Additionally, there were subsequent clashes with military council security forces who were positioned along the roadside as security posts. The Fire Dragon Column reported that these engagements resulted in further casualties among the military council forces who were manning the security checkpoints along the route.
Following the initial engagement, reinforcements from the military council arrived from Madauk area with two vehicles and five motorcycles. Upon arrival at the scene of the attack, they conducted indiscriminate firing in the surrounding area before proceeding to retrieve their wounded personnel and the bodies of those killed in the attack. According to battle reports, this operation is considered a successful strike against military council movements in the region, effectively disrupting their activities and demonstrating the capabilities of resistance forces in the area. Local sources have noted that this engagement represents a significant blow to military council operations in the territory.
