
Two military council personnel, a Police Sub-Lieutenant and a police officer, were killed in an attack by People’s Defense Forces when they were leaving their base at the Nyaung Pin Tha Agricultural Institute campus in Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region. The incident resulted in the seizure of two weapons. The attack occurred at approximately 7:20 AM on May 15th, when resistance forces intercepted the military council personnel who were heading towards Pan Ran Pyu Saw Htee village.
The operation was jointly carried out by the No. 4 Battalion of the People’s Defense Force, Shwebo District, and local resistance forces. The resistance fighters had been monitoring the route commonly used by military council forces to enter the village. When the two military council personnel emerged from their base, the resistance forces launched an immediate attack. During the engagement, both the Police Sub-Lieutenant and the police officer were killed instantly. The resistance forces successfully seized two weapons from the deceased: one 35-bolt action rifle and one G-3 rifle.
The military council base stationed within the Nyaung Pin Tha Agricultural Institute campus has been known to conduct regular intimidation and inspection operations against local civilians. According to local residents, the military council forces frequently conduct raids and inspections in nearby villages, including Pan Ran Pyu Saw Htee village. In this incident, the revolutionary forces had been monitoring the movements of the military council personnel and successfully executed their attack. The base has been a source of ongoing tension in the area, with local residents living under constant threat of military harassment and surveillance. This successful operation by the resistance forces represents another blow to the military council’s control in the Shwebo Township area.
