Revolutionary forces launched an attack on military council troops stationed within the compound of a high school in Budalin, Sagaing Region, on May 18, resulting in casualties among the military council forces, according to the military affairs officer of the Budalin Township People’s Defense Force (PDF). The attack began at approximately 6:00 AM and concluded at 9:30 AM. The revolutionary forces successfully withdrew from the operation without suffering any casualties.
The military council troops had been stationed at the high school compound for approximately two years, with a force ranging from 20 to 50 personnel. They had constructed bunkers along the school’s brick wall perimeter and entrance, establishing strong defensive positions particularly after the fall of the Kuhtaw Village police station. While cries of injured soldiers were heard during the battle, the exact number of casualties among the military council forces could not be immediately confirmed.
The operation was carried out through coordination between multiple resistance groups, including the Budalin Township PDF, Budalin Township Ward and Village Defense Forces, territorial units, Monywa Township’s Kanpyargyi PDF, Yay Oo Township PDF, and the territorial Kokine group. The military affairs officer stated that revolutionary forces would continue to target military council positions within the town whenever opportunities arise.
