A ward clinic in Kamma town, Pakokku Township, Magway Region, was damaged by an airstrike conducted by the military council forces, resulting in injuries to two civilians. The attack occurred at 6:17 AM on May 18, when a fighter jet from the Tatmadaw Air Base in Tataung launched two bombs at the clinic located in the Gyopyay ward in the western part of Kamma town. The attack caused significant damage to the clinic building and partially destroyed a nearby palm tree.
According to local sources, the clinic, which consists of two connected buildings, had been closed for some time due to security concerns, as the military council forces have been regularly targeting medical facilities and schools. One of the injured victims, a woman, sustained head injuries, while the condition of the other injured person remains unknown. The Seikphyu Lone Tiger confirmed that the clinic building suffered extensive damage in the attack. Despite the military council’s declaration of a ceasefire during May, revolutionary forces report that airstrikes have actually intensified during this period.
This targeting of civilian infrastructure represents a violation of international law and continues to impact the safety and healthcare access of local civilians. The attack has caused significant concern among local residents, who are increasingly worried about their daily security. The incident highlights the ongoing pattern of the military council’s attacks on civilian facilities, despite their public statements about seeking peace. The local community continues to face challenges in accessing essential medical services, with many healthcare facilities remaining closed or operating at limited capacity due to the threat of similar attacks.
