
In Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei Township, clashes erupted between the military council forces and local revolutionary groups after the military council entered the area with more than 200 troops. According to a spokesperson from the Launglone Peninsula Force (LPF), the confrontations resulted in six casualties from the military council side and two fallen revolutionary fighters. The military council began their operations in the eastern Dawei area on April 28, entering with significant forces and reportedly intimidating local civilians.
The resistance against the military council’s invasion was carried out through a coordinated effort of local revolutionary forces, including the 7th Dawn Annihilation Force LPF, Dawei District Battalion 2, DGRF, DNLA, DEF, Edin Myu, EDF, Klar Thet Nat, Bee Lone Guerrilla, and KNU Brigade 4 Battalion 12. The first engagement took place on May 2 between Thayet Ngut village and Ramazu village. The revolutionary forces launched coordinated attacks to defend the area from the military council’s advancement.
Subsequent clashes occurred on May 9 near the tower at Bawa Pin village, with a second engagement in the afternoon, followed by an intense third battle in the evening. The fourth and final confrontation took place the following morning on May 10. These series of battles resulted in at least six confirmed casualties among military council troops and more than 40 serious injuries. On the revolutionary forces’ side, two comrades were lost in action, with one fighter sustaining serious injuries and four others receiving minor wounds. The local revolutionary forces continue to maintain their defensive positions in the area, protecting civilian populations from military council aggression.
