
Revolutionary forces conducted attacks on military columns in Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region and Pakokku Township of Magway Region, resulting in the deaths of 7 military soldiers. In Myingyan Township, on May 10, resistance forces launched mine attacks against military columns that had emerged from near a police station east of Kyauktawlay village in Hlusin Township block, west of the highway, and another column that had burned down the Daung People’s Defense Force Myingyan District PDF office camp located about one mile west of Kyauktawlay village.
According to a responsible official from the Daung People’s Revolutionary Force, the military conducted clearance operations with three columns of troops. When they entered and burned their camp, mine explosions killed three soldiers, followed by three more casualties in subsequent fighting. During these attacks, six military personnel were killed and two were seriously injured, while revolutionary forces were able to withdraw without casualties. The military columns subsequently retreated on May 11 and May 12.
In Pakokku Township’s Shinmakan village, resistance forces also attacked military troops with rockets. On May 14, they launched three rockets at military forces temporarily stationed at Shinmakan monastery, followed by two more rocket attacks on May 16. Later that day, when military forces attempted to leave Shinmakan monastery in four vehicles heading toward Military Division 101 in Pakokku, they were attacked with mines, resulting in one soldier’s death, according to Colonel Mwe Hawk, commander of Cobra One Pakokku Force. The operation was jointly conducted by PDF-Split-5 Ayeyarwaddy Force, Ayeyarwaddy Force Unit, PLO Forces, and COBRA ONE Pakokku Forces. Military equipment including one MA ammunition box and 24 rounds of 5.56 ammunition were left behind at the attack site.
