
The Indaw Revolution-IR group has confirmed that two civilians were killed when the terrorist military conducted an airstrike on a school in Henna village, Indaw Township, Sagaing Region. Around 12 noon on May 12, two fighter jets from Tataoo launched an attack on the Henna village school, dropping three bombs and firing rockets. The aerial attack resulted in damage to the village school and houses, killing two male civilians and injuring seven others. Local sources reported significant destruction of residential buildings from the attack.
Similarly, in Shan State’s Nyaung Shwe Township, the terrorist military fired heavy weapons at Taungpogwe village and Hopan Nauk village, causing damage to a monastery and houses, according to the Inle Region Human Rights Group. At 10:59 PM on May 12, military council troops based in Pekon fired heavy weapons three times at Taungpogwe village. During the attack, one artillery shell hit and exploded at the village monastery, causing damage to the building. Another shell exploded in the outskirts of Taungpogwe village, but no civilians were injured in this incident.
On the same day, military council troops also fired another artillery shell at Hopan Nauk village, which resulted in damage to one house though no civilians were injured, according to local residents. Local sources report that the terrorist military regularly targets civilian homes, schools, and religious buildings in their attacks, frequently resulting in civilian casualties and injuries. The military’s continued targeting of civilian infrastructure and religious sites has caused significant damage to communities while putting civilian lives at risk.
