A spokesperson from Battalion 3802 Division 5 of Thayarwaddy District has confirmed that all military council soldiers fled their camp at Hainyu Junction in Minhla Township, Bago Region, during an attack by revolutionary forces. The incident occurred around noon on May 11, 2023, when revolutionary forces launched an offensive after receiving intelligence that military council troops were confiscating civilian vehicles and bringing in reinforcements at their position along the Seikanhlan-Myochaung mountain pass road at Hainyu Junction.
The military outpost had been a source of civilian oppression since its establishment in October 2023. The military council troops stationed there had been regularly engaging in various forms of civilian harassment, including indiscriminate artillery shelling of nearby villages, arbitrary arrests of travelers, extortion, and intimidation of local residents. When revolutionary forces attacked the position, all military council soldiers abandoned the camp, leading the revolutionary forces to subsequently destroy the facility by burning it down to prevent its future use by the military council.
Following the battle, revolutionary forces completely destroyed the camp by fire to ensure it could not be reoccupied by military council forces. The unit commander emphasized that they would continue to target such military installations that oppress civilians. This engagement represents a significant victory in the fight against the military dictatorship and has brought increased security to local residents who had been suffering under the military council’s oppressive presence. The successful operation demonstrates the growing capability of revolutionary forces to challenge and disrupt military council operations in the region while protecting civilian populations from further abuse and exploitation.
