The Chin Brotherhood Alliance has announced that it will reorganize itself into a more consolidated and standardized army to protect Chin State and all Chin people. According to their statement released on May 11, they have established fundamental principles for transforming into a standard army. This announcement came after a meeting held in a liberated area from April 26 to 29, attended by 39 representatives.
The alliance discussed plans for Chin national unity and the formation of a future Chin state government that would represent all Chin people. They agreed to continue implementing their Terms of Reference (ToR), which includes democratic standards such as equality, justice, and self-determination. The group also established basic agreements for developing military, political, and socioeconomic policies regarding both domestic alliance relationships and international relations.
The Chin Brotherhood Alliance has committed to protecting the lives and property of people within their controlled territories while also providing effective public services including healthcare, education, and food security. They plan to collaborate with domestic civilians, revolutionary forces, and international organizations to achieve these goals. The alliance, established on December 30, 2023, includes the Chin National Organization (CNO/CNDF), Chin Defense Force-Mindat, Zomi Federal Union (ZFU/PDF-Zoland), Chin Defense Force-Kanpetlet, Chin Land Defense Force-Matupi Battalion 1, and Mara Territory Council (MTC/MDF).
Currently, the Chin Brotherhood Alliance has taken control of Kyindwe, Matupi, Mindat, Kanpetlet, and Falam cities from the military council. However, analysts note that potential conflicts may arise within the Chin community as the CNF/CNA-led Chinland Council has already established a Chin state government, and now the Chin Brotherhood Alliance’s announcement of forming another Chin state government could lead to disagreements among the Chin people.
