The military council’s air force has conducted aerial attacks on the Kyauk Htu area in Saw Township, Gangaw District, Magway Region, according to local residents and revolutionary forces. On May 9, a military aircraft from the Tatmadaw’s Tataoo Air Base carried out bombing raids targeting villages in the Kyauk Htu area, as confirmed by a representative from the Yaw Alinn Tan organization. The aerial assault occurred between 6:20 AM and 6:30 AM, during which at least 12 bombs were dropped on the area. The extent of civilian casualties and property damage is still being assessed, according to local sources.
Local residents report that the military council has been conducting daily aerial attacks, necessitating extreme caution among the civilian population. Despite the military council’s announcement of a nationwide ceasefire from May 6 to May 31, they continue to carry out aerial bombardments, artillery strikes, and drone attacks targeting civilian areas where no active fighting is taking place. Revolutionary organizations have documented these ongoing attacks against civilian populations, which directly contradict the military council’s ceasefire declaration.
In response to these continued threats, revolutionary organizations have urged civilians to construct bomb shelters and follow air raid defense protocols to protect themselves from aerial attacks. The military council’s actions demonstrate a pattern of targeting civilian areas with aerial bombardments, even in regions where there are no military operations or active conflicts. This has created a constant state of fear and uncertainty among local populations, who must remain vigilant against potential air strikes while trying to maintain their daily lives.
