The military council’s forces conducted aerial attacks on the Kyauk Htu area in Saw Township, Gangaw District, Magway Region, according to local residents and revolutionary organizations. On May 9, a Y-12 aircraft from the military council’s Tatmadaw Bridge airbase carried out bombing raids from 6:20 AM to 6:30 AM, dropping at least 12 bombs during the ten-minute attack, as confirmed by a representative from the Yaw Alinn Tan organization.
While the exact extent of damage to civilian lives and property from this bombing raid remains unclear, revolutionary organizations have warned local residents to exercise extreme caution as the military council continues to conduct daily aerial attacks. The military council has been consistently targeting civilian villages with airstrikes even in areas where there are no active battles or military operations, according to revolutionary organizations. These attacks have been deliberately aimed at civilian settlements, causing widespread fear and displacement among local populations.
Despite the military council’s announcement of a temporary ceasefire from May 6 to May 31, they have continued to conduct military operations across the country, including troop deployments, aerial bombardments, artillery shelling, and drone attacks. As a result, revolutionary organizations have advised civilians to follow air raid defense procedures and construct bomb shelters at every household. The military council’s aerial attacks have frequently resulted in civilian casualties and the destruction of homes and property, leading to significant losses for innocent civilians. The ongoing attacks demonstrate the military council’s disregard for their own declared ceasefire and their continued aggression against civilian populations.
