In Thonepanlal village, Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, military council forces conducted an aerial attack using mechanized paratroopers, resulting in the death of three civilians, including a 10-year-old fourth-grade student, and injuring two others, despite there being no active conflict in the area. The incident occurred on the morning of May 10, when the military council deliberately targeted the village from the air while villagers were going about their normal daily activities.
According to local residents, the military council carried out bombing raids using paramotors on the village despite the absence of any military activities in the area. This attack resulted in civilian casualties and created widespread fear among the villagers. Although the military council announced a nationwide ceasefire from May 6 to May 31, revolutionary forces have confirmed that in reality, the military continues to conduct aerial attacks, drone strikes, and military operations throughout the country.
These deliberate attacks on civilians demonstrate further evidence of the military council’s war crimes and violations of international law. The attack on Thonepanlal village has left local residents in fear and concerned for their safety. Due to the military council’s offensive operations, local civilians have been forced to flee their homes and are in need of humanitarian assistance. The incident highlights the ongoing pattern of violence against civilians by the military council, despite their claims of a temporary ceasefire, and the continuing humanitarian crisis facing the people of Myanmar.
