Reports from local residents and revolutionary forces indicate ongoing aerial attacks by the military council in the Kyauk Htu area of Saw Township, Gangaw District, Magway Region. On May 9th, a Y12 aircraft from the military council’s Tatmadaw Bridge airbase conducted bombing raids over villages in the Kyauk Htu area from 6:20 AM to 6:30 AM. According to a representative from the Yaw Alinn Tan organization, the aircraft dropped at least 12 bombs during the ten-minute attack.
Despite the military council’s announcement of a nationwide ceasefire from May 6th to May 31st, they continue to conduct daily aerial attacks, artillery shelling, military column operations, and drone strikes throughout the country, as reported by revolutionary organizations. The military council particularly targets civilian areas and villages where there are no active conflicts. These attacks demonstrate the ongoing military aggression against civilian populations, contradicting their own declared ceasefire.
Due to these continuous aerial attacks by the military council, revolutionary organizations have advised local residents to follow air raid defense procedures and construct bomb shelters at every household. The exact extent of damage and casualties from the recent aerial attack in the Kyauk Htu area is still being investigated. Local residents must remain extremely vigilant as they face daily threats of aerial bombardment from the military council. The situation highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis as civilians continue to endure military attacks on their communities, despite the declared temporary ceasefire.
