Reports from local residents and revolutionary organizations confirm that the military council forces conducted aerial attacks in the Kyauk Htu area of Saw Township, Gangaw District, Magway Region. On May 9, a military aircraft from the Tatmadaw’s Tataoo Air Base targeted villages in the Kyauk Htu area with bomb strikes. The aerial assault lasted approximately 10 minutes, from 6:20 AM to 6:30 AM, during which at least 12 bombs were dropped on the area.
According to local residents, the military council carried out these attacks despite there being no active fighting or military operations in the area, deliberately targeting civilian residential areas. The ongoing aerial attacks have caused significant fear and anxiety among local residents, who have been forced to dig bomb shelters near almost every house for protection. Revolutionary organizations have advised civilians to follow air raid protection protocols and remain vigilant for their safety. The continuous bombardment of civilian areas has become a daily occurrence, forcing local communities to adapt to living under constant threat of aerial attacks.
Although the military council announced a nationwide ceasefire from May 6 to May 31, in reality, they have continued their offensive operations across the country, including aerial bombardments, artillery shelling, and drone attacks on civilian areas. According to statements from revolutionary organizations, the military has not ceased its ground operations either, continuing to conduct military campaigns throughout the country. This pattern of behavior demonstrates a clear disconnect between the military council’s public statements and their actions on the ground, where civilian populations continue to bear the brunt of ongoing military operations despite declared ceasefires.
