Reports from local residents and revolutionary organizations confirm that the military council forces conducted aerial attacks in the Kyauk Htu area of Saw Township, Gangaw District, Magway Region. On May 9, a fighter aircraft from the military council’s Tatmadaw Air Base in Tatkone targeted and bombed villages within the Kyauk Htu area. According to Ko Bo Kaung from Yaw Alinn Tan organization, the aerial bombardment occurred between 6:20 AM and 6:30 AM, during which at least 12 bombs were dropped on the area.
While the full extent of damage and casualties from this aerial attack remains unclear, revolutionary organizations have warned that the military council continues to conduct daily aerial bombardments, necessitating extreme caution among local residents. The military council specifically targets civilian villages in areas where there are no active battles or military operations, demonstrating deliberate attacks on civilian populations.
Despite the military council’s announcement of a nationwide ceasefire from May 6 to May 31, they have not ceased military operations and attacks in practice. According to documentation from revolutionary organizations, the military council continues to conduct daily operations across the country, including troop deployments, aerial bombings, artillery strikes, and drone attacks. As a result, revolutionary organizations have advised civilians to follow air raid protection measures and construct bomb shelters at every household. The ongoing attacks persist despite the declared ceasefire, highlighting the military council’s continued aggression against civilian populations throughout Myanmar.
