A spokesperson from the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Battalion 203, Company 3, has confirmed that one corporal was killed and twenty soldiers, including a battalion commander, were injured when revolutionary forces ambushed a military council convoy in Bokpyin Township, Tanintharyi Region. The incident occurred around 2:20 PM on May 8, when approximately one hundred military council troops were advancing toward the windward direction in a convoy consisting of five Vigo vehicles and two stone-carrying trucks. The revolutionary forces had set up remote-controlled mines near the freshwater stream at White Rock Mountain, between Bodar and Wachaung villages, where they launched their attack.
The ensuing firefight lasted approximately thirty minutes, during which a corporal from the military council’s artillery unit was killed, and the commander of Bokpyin Battalion 358 sustained serious eye injuries. An additional nineteen soldiers were also wounded in the engagement. Although the military council forces responded with both heavy and light weapons, the revolutionary forces were able to withdraw successfully without suffering any casualties. The attack was carried out through coordination between KNLA Battalion 203 Company 3, Kawthaung District Battalion 1 Company 2, Flying Star Force, Bokpyin Township People’s Defense Force, and Bokpyin Township People’s Police Force.
While no weapons were seized during the operation, the revolutionary forces successfully deployed three mines in the attack, after which the military council troops quickly retreated from the area. Due to current communication disruptions in the region, additional information about further casualties cannot be confirmed at this time. The successful operation demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated resistance efforts and the continued support of local civilians in providing accurate intelligence, highlighting the unity between the people and revolutionary forces in their struggle against the military council.
