According to photos and video footage released by the Russian government and military council, at the Red Square Victory Day 80th anniversary gala dinner and celebration hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, military council leader Min Aung Hlaing was not seated with leaders of major nations but was instead placed in the back rows. The event, which took place on the evening of May 8, was attended by international leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping and other dignitaries.
During the gala dinner and celebration held at the Andreevsky Hall, Russian President Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping were seated in the front row, while Min Aung Hlaing and leaders from other smaller nations were positioned in the back rows. This event was held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The seating arrangement clearly demonstrated the protocol hierarchy observed at the international gathering.
The Myanmar military is scheduled to participate in the 80th Victory Day parade to be held in Moscow on May 9. While this celebration represents a historically significant event for Russia and has drawn attendance from international leaders, it is notable that the Myanmar military council leader was not accorded prominent recognition in the seating arrangements. The event’s organization and seating protocol reflected the international community’s current diplomatic stance, with major world leaders receiving priority seating while others, including Min Aung Hlaing, were assigned less prominent positions in the venue.
