A military council vehicle carrying soldiers collecting extortion money was attacked near Kan Ta Lu village in Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in three soldiers killed and one vehicle destroyed, according to a representative from Generation Z Power. The incident occurred on May 5 at 8:30 AM when People’s Defense Forces jointly attacked a Mark-2 vehicle carrying soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members, leading to an exchange of fire that lasted approximately 20 minutes.
During the attack, three soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members were killed, while one escaped with injuries. The attack took place on a public road, and the resistance forces carefully executed the operation to avoid civilian casualties. Military Battalion 33 later retrieved the bodies of the deceased and the destroyed vehicle. The attacking force consisted of Generation Z Power – GZP (Mandalay) urban guerrilla forces in collaboration with allied groups including Taw Twin Tup Pee PDF, BRA PDF, and local People’s Defense Forces.
All resistance fighters safely withdrew from the area after the operation. The resistance groups have called on military council soldiers, police, Pyu Saw Htee members, and administrative staff working under the military council to defect to nearby revolutionary forces as soon as possible. The successful operation demonstrates the growing coordination between various resistance groups in their fight against the military council’s oppressive activities in the Sagaing region.
