
The Myaing Garuda People’s Defense Force has confirmed that five military council soldiers were killed during an attack on the military council’s Thanbyarwa checkpoint in Myaing town, Magway Region. The battle occurred on May 1st, when revolutionary forces launched an offensive against the checkpoint, resulting in the immediate death of three military council soldiers. Two more military council soldiers were killed in subsequent fighting.
The operation was jointly carried out by the Garuda People’s Defense Force, which is the second battalion of the Myaing PDF, along with other allied revolutionary forces. The Thanbyarwa checkpoint is one of the main military council checkpoints within Myaing town and has been a location where local civilians are regularly subjected to inspections and monetary extortion. Additional fighting broke out when military council reinforcements arrived at the location after the initial attack.
Revolutionary forces have been strengthening their operations within Myaing Township, gradually working to reduce the military council’s control over the area. Local civilians have been cooperating with revolutionary forces by providing intelligence and support. The people and revolutionary forces continue to fight together in unity to liberate themselves from the oppression of the military council. The successful attack on the Thanbyarwa checkpoint represents another step in the ongoing resistance against military rule in the region.
