
A 2.5-year-old child was killed and three civilians were injured when the military fired artillery shells into Myethaikan village in Pakokku Township, Magway Region, according to local residents. The incident occurred around 4:30 PM on May 2nd when Military Division 101 based in Pakokku Township fired four artillery shells into the village. One of the shells landed and exploded in the compound of Ma Myint Myint Khaing’s house.
In the incident, the 2.5-year-old child was struck by shell fragments, resulting in fatal abdominal injuries with intestinal exposure. Additionally, the child’s mother, another young girl, and an elderly woman who was passing by were wounded in the attack. Following the artillery barrage, troops from Division 101 entered Myethaikan village in force, conducting a military operation during which they beat and arrested seven villagers who were then taken away.
Local sources report that there has been no contact with the arrested villagers to date, while the remaining villagers have been forced to flee their homes for safety. The military committed these acts of violence against a peaceful village, including artillery bombardment, military invasion, and arbitrary arrests of civilians. According to revolutionary sources in the region, the military council has recently been attempting to establish control over Pakokku Township by conducting increased military operations in the area.
