The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has announced that it will continue to collaborate with its allies, including the National Unity Government (NUG), to eliminate the military dictatorship system. Colonel Tar Pan La, TNLA’s Joint Secretary-2, stated during today’s press conference that they have no plans to return their controlled territories to the military council. He emphasized that the eradication of military dictatorship remains a primary objective for TNLA, warning that failure to eliminate the military dictatorship system now would result in a continuous cycle of ceasefires, peace talks, and conflicts that could affect future generations.
Despite pressure from China to return the townships under TNLA control to the military council, Colonel Tar Pan La firmly stated that they would not comply with such demands. He explained that the TNLA, along with their northern alliance partners, has currently suspended offensive operations due to earthquake concerns, focusing instead on defensive operations. The organization is prioritizing the security and basic needs of civilians in their controlled areas, including food security and safety measures. The TNLA leadership has called for active public participation in city defense forces to prevent situations similar to what occurred in Lashio.
The TNLA’s commitment to maintaining their position against the military dictatorship reflects their broader strategy of working with allied forces to achieve lasting change in Myanmar. Colonel Tar Pan La emphasized that their focus remains on protecting civilian interests and ensuring stability in their controlled regions while maintaining defensive positions. The organization continues to encourage public participation in defense efforts, highlighting the importance of civilian cooperation in maintaining security and preventing military council control in their territories. This stance demonstrates their dedication to the long-term goal of eliminating military dictatorship while ensuring the immediate safety and welfare of the population under their protection.
