
According to a statement from a Pyin Oo Lwin District People’s Defense Force official, one civilian woman was killed and four others were severely injured when the terrorist military council forces conducted an airstrike on a school in Shwe Tan Shay village, Mattaya Township, Mandalay Region.
The incident occurred on May 3, 2024, at approximately 3:19 PM when a K8-W fighter jet from the terrorist military council’s Tada-U Air Base conducted an airstrike on the school compound in Shwe Tan Shay village, located in western Mattaya Township. The aerial attack resulted in the immediate death of a 25-year-old woman and caused severe injuries to four others, including one man and three women.
Additionally, the attack killed one cow and caused significant damage to school buildings and infrastructure. The Pyin Oo Lwin District People’s Defense Force has issued special warnings to local residents to construct bomb shelters for protection against military council airstrikes and to relocate to areas far from military council forces. The incident highlights the ongoing attacks by the military council against civilian targets, including educational facilities, in various parts of Myanmar.
