A series of rocket attacks were carried out on April 30 targeting the military council’s Southern Command Headquarters and Air Force Base in Taungoo District, Bago Region. The coordinated assault was conducted by the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) in collaboration with allied forces including MKCDF, ACPLF, and the Northern Thaung Special Region Group. The operation, designated as BWM Missions 35 and 36, involved the deployment of 14 rockets against these strategic military installations.
The attacks resulted in significant damage to the Southern Command Headquarters, with the Division Office Military Department building sustaining extensive damage and the Division Treasury Office being destroyed. Several camp office facilities were also damaged in the assault. Two military housing units belonging to warrant officers and staff sergeants were destroyed by fire, along with two officer quarters. The casualties from this attack included two female air force personnel, three air force officers, and eight other ranked personnel who were killed. Additionally, five officers and twelve other ranked personnel suffered severe injuries. Two air force vehicles were also destroyed in the attack.
At the Taungoo Air Force Base, two buildings, including an aircraft hangar, sustained significant damage. However, the full extent of casualties and damage at the air force base remains unclear due to strict information control and restrictions imposed by the military council. According to a BWM official, there were confirmed casualties among air force officers and personnel, including both fatalities and severe injuries, though exact numbers cannot be verified due to the military council’s information blackout. Reports confirm that the air force base remains non-operational, with no aircraft able to conduct flights from the facility as of the current situation.
