
The People’s Defense Force (PDF) has successfully apprehended four armed robbers who conducted a heist at a gold shop in Myinmu town, Sagaing Region. The incident occurred on May 1st at approximately 10:00 AM when four unidentified armed individuals stormed into the Shwe Eikayar gold shop in downtown Myinmu and made off with gold items valued at over 2.6 billion kyats (approximately 26,000 lakhs).
Acting on received intelligence, revolutionary forces conducted a coordinated operation at the border area between Myinmu and Ngazun townships. The forces successfully intercepted and captured all four suspects while they were attempting to transport the stolen gold items through a water route. During the arrest, three weapons were seized from the perpetrators, including two MA-3 rifles and one pistol. The Office Chief of Strategic Command-64 Battalion reported that investigations are ongoing to determine if the suspects have any connections to other organizations or if there are additional accomplices involved in the robbery.
The successful operation was carried out through the joint efforts of multiple revolutionary forces, including Myinmu Township PDF, Ngazun Township PDF, and Strategic Command-64 of Military Region-1 (comprising battalions 5, 8, 9, 10, and 11 of Monywa District). The recovered gold items and the arrested suspects have been transferred to the Myinmu Township People’s Defense Force for further investigation. This swift action in apprehending the perpetrators has helped protect the lives and property of local residents, demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between various revolutionary forces in maintaining security in the region.
