The Southern Command Headquarters of the military council in Taungoo Township, Bago Region, was attacked with eight 107mm rockets as confirmed on April 30. The attack was carried out at 1:37 AM and successfully hit its targets, according to a spokesperson from the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM). This operation was conducted as part of BWM Mission 35. The Southern Command Headquarters serves as a crucial military installation that directs operations against revolutionary forces and civilians in Bago Region and northern Karen State regions.
The facility has gained additional strategic importance recently as it has become an operational center for military council leadership following earthquake damage to their headquarters in Naypyidaw. The military council has been using this location to coordinate their oppressive actions against civilians and resistance forces throughout the surrounding regions. After the attack, military council forces stationed near the Sittaung River responded with small arms fire, followed by two artillery rounds approximately an hour later. However, all attacking forces successfully returned to their bases safely, as confirmed by the BWM spokesperson.
The operation was a coordinated effort led by BWM in collaboration with the Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces (MKCDF), Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF), and Northern Thandaung Special Region forces. The attacking forces specifically targeted this headquarters due to its role in directing military operations that have resulted in civilian casualties and oppression throughout the Bago and northern Karen State regions. The BWM spokesperson indicated that they are continuing to assess the impact of the attack and will release further details about any casualties or damage inflicted on the military council facility.
