A spokesperson from the Thayarwaddy District PDF has confirmed that a military column of over 70 junta troops was ambushed, resulting in 10 casualties and the seizure of 13 weapons, with one soldier captured alive. The incident occurred on April 27 around 9 AM when the military column, which had departed from a monastery in Thawkun village in Minle Township, was intercepted by resistance forces as it entered Ngmyayeip village. The operation was carried out by multiple units including Battalions 3802, 3803, and 3801 of the Thayarwaddy District PDF, along with various other resistance groups.
The engagement lasted approximately two hours, featuring exchanges of both heavy and light weapons fire. At around 10:50 AM, the military council deployed a Mi-35 helicopter and two fighter jets to provide air support for their ground forces. Despite this air support, the junta troops were forced to retreat in disarray. Following the battle, resistance forces recovered 10 bodies of military personnel, 11 small arms, one 60mm mortar, and various military equipment. The next morning, resistance forces captured an additional soldier alive near Kyunkun village, along with his weapon. This marked a significant victory for the resistance forces in their ongoing struggle against the military council’s operations in the region.
After the military column’s retreat, a comprehensive area clearance operation was conducted by a joint force comprising multiple units from Thayarwaddy District Battalions 3802, 3803, and 3801, along with Battalion 3701 from Bago District. The operation involved various specialized units including Dragon Brothers, underground guerrilla forces, Black Dragon units, and the AyeYarNyiNaung company. This coordinated action demonstrated the growing capabilities and organization of resistance forces in the region, as they continue to challenge the military council’s control over various territories. The successful operation has been noted as a crucial victory for ensuring the security of local civilians in the area, according to resistance force members.
