According to statements from People’s Defense Forces (PDF), 55 members of the military council forces were killed across Myanmar on April 27. Various People’s Defense Forces reported engagements with military council troops in different regions, confirming casualties on the military council’s side during these confrontations. The PDFs stated that they were forced to engage in defensive actions against military council forces who continue to commit acts of violence against local civilians.
While local defense forces have documented these military casualties, sources indicate that the exact death toll cannot be independently verified on the ground. The military council typically conceals information about their casualties from the public and often does not return the bodies of deceased soldiers to their families. Local residents report that the military council continues to force civilians into military service and mandatory military training, resulting in the loss of lives and property among the civilian population.
The People’s Defense Forces are engaged in defensive operations against the military council’s brutal actions, working to protect civilians’ safety and property. Reports indicate that military council forces have been burning villages, arbitrarily arresting, torturing, and killing innocent civilians, compelling the PDFs to mount resistance operations. Due to the military council’s violence, many civilians have been forced to flee their homes and are facing significant hardships in securing basic necessities for survival.
