According to resistance forces’ statements, an attack on a military council convoy with two armored vehicles in Salin Township, Magway Region, resulted in at least nine casualties, including the column commander. On April 24, revolutionary alliance forces intercepted and attacked a military council column consisting of two armored vehicles and over 200 troops as they entered from Wanpyi village towards Aukhlaing village in western Salin Township. The intense battle lasted over two hours, during which at least nine military council personnel, including the column commander, were killed and more than ten others were wounded.
During the engagement, one of the military council’s armored vehicles fell into a water canal near Wanpyi village. While attempts were being made to recover the vehicle using bulldozers, resistance forces launched additional attacks with heavy weapons, likely resulting in more military casualties. The military council column retreated the following morning on April 25 with their wounded personnel. The coordinated attack was carried out by an alliance of resistance forces including the Burma Army, Battalion 808, Minbu District Battalions 1 and 5, Paukhtaungpyin Health and Nursing Force, People’s Defense Force (Salin), Daung Sit Aung PDF, Daung Nyinaung Urban Guerrilla Force, and Minbu District Task Force. Only one resistance fighter sustained minor injuries during the battle.
Currently, the military council is deploying multiple columns with large forces into Salin Township. Local residents have been warned to prepare bomb shelters for protection against airstrikes and artillery fire, and to follow the guidance of revolutionary forces. The resistance forces continue to maintain defensive positions in the area while monitoring military movements. The successful operation demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in coordinating large-scale attacks against military council units, even when faced with armored vehicles and superior numbers. Local defense forces emphasize the importance of civilian safety and continue to provide updates on military activities in the region to help protect communities from potential military council offensives.
