The Information and Public Relations Officer of Battalion 4 in Salin District has reported that revolutionary forces successfully captured the Yenantha Police Station in Kamma Township, Magway Region, while the station commander and his team fled after claiming they would surrender. The attack occurred on April 25, 2024, at 5:00 AM, targeting the police outpost led by Station Commander Myat Thein Aung, located between mile markers 12 and 13 along the Salin-Kamma-Pyay highway near Yenantha village.
During the initial assault, the police station offered minimal resistance before indicating their intention to surrender, prompting the People’s Defense Forces to cease fire. However, when the firing stopped, the station commander and his police personnel escaped into the thickets along Yenantha Creek behind the station, carrying their weapons. Despite having two layers of fortification and two concrete bunkers built for strong defense, the police station could not withstand the attack from the People’s Defense Forces.
Upon entering and clearing the police station, the People’s Defense Forces captured one police corporal and seized various items including one G3 rifle, three G3 magazines, over 1,000 rounds of assorted ammunition, two vehicles, four motorcycles, and various military equipment. The police station building was subsequently burned down. The operation was jointly conducted by Companies 1 and 2 of Battalion 4, Salin District Command of the People’s Defense Forces, and was completed successfully with no casualties among the revolutionary forces. Following the battle, there were reports of two to three artillery shells being fired from the Mindon 5-mile checkpoint, and it was reported that a local resident was taken away for questioning. The revolutionary forces were able to withdraw safely after completing their mission.
