
In Kyaukpadaung Township, Mandalay Region, revolutionary forces attempted to arrest Htay Naing, a people’s militia leader under Infantry Battalion 88 of Minbu Township, resulting in his death during an escape attempt. The incident occurred on April 22 when the Popa Guerilla Force (PGF) conducted an operation based on intelligence received about his movements. The revolutionary forces intercepted a vehicle carrying the militia leader and a woman at a location along a road in Kyaukpadaung Township, conducting a surprise inspection.
During the inspection, Htay Naing and the woman attempted to resist arrest and tried to escape, prompting the revolutionary forces to open fire while attempting to apprehend them, resulting in their deaths at the scene. In the incident, two revolutionary force members sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The operation led to the seizure of military equipment and related materials from the deceased militia leader.
The seized items included a vehicle belonging to Major Min Wei, 79 carbine rounds, one ammunition magazine, one hand grenade, one icon, one sword, four mobile phones, military council-issued staff identification cards, badges, and other related materials. According to confirmation from revolutionary forces, this operation represents an effective strike against military council-affiliated militia groups. The incident demonstrates the ongoing conflict between revolutionary forces and military council-affiliated groups in the region, with revolutionary forces continuing their operations against those working under the military council’s authority.
