Local residents report that village administrators in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region, are either fleeing or seeking refuge in military camps as combined forces of the Arakan Army (AA) and People’s Defense Force (PDF) have penetrated the area. Administrators and village administration team members from Panhtawgyi, Wartawkwin, and Taung villages have fled to Hinthada town, while administrators from other villages, prevented from fleeing by military forces, have been forced to take shelter in military outposts.
According to revolutionary intelligence sources from Laymyethna Township, the administrator of Taung village, Zaw Zaw Myint, along with hundred-household and ten-household leaders, have all fled to Hinthada town following the battle at Wartawkwin. Administrators from Panhtawgyi and Wartawkwin villages have also fled. However, in areas where the military has established bases, such as Shwe Thit Su village near the Ngawun Bridge, administrators are unable to escape and must stay within military outposts. Similarly, administrators from villages including Daung Kwe, Nin Kyan, Khattu, and Siquin are providing support to the military, as are those from Ton Taw and Kanyin Dine villages.
In Shwe Thit Su village of Laymyethna Township, the armed village administrator Zaw Naing has been forcing villagers to cook rice and curry on a rotational basis to supply the military. The military has imposed strict security measures in various areas including Kwin Gyi village tract, Aung Zan Kwin village, Zeepin Kwin village, and villages in the Watkone village tract such as Watkone, Lekhon Lay, Lekhon Gyi, Setsatyo, Chinlay, and San Kone. In these areas, they are conducting arrests and investigations of Rakhine ethnic internally displaced persons and strangers.
