
A woman was killed in an airstrike by the military in Sinmaye village, Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, while the entire Balaba village was burned down by military forces. On April 21, the military conducted two airstrikes on Zeepin Kone village in the afternoon, followed by another strike in the evening. They also launched an airstrike on Alaysaung village that same evening. The extent of damage and civilian casualties from these aerial attacks is still being verified.
On April 23, at around 9:25 PM and 9:29 PM, the military conducted two airstrikes targeting the eastern part of Zeepin Kone village and the southern part of Sinmaye village. During these attacks, a woman from Sinmaye village was killed after being hit by bomb shrapnel. On the ground, approximately 150 military troops have been advancing since April 20, establishing positions in Kyu village and Sinkyoe village. They have been taking civilians as hostages, looting civilian properties, and indiscriminately firing heavy weapons at nearby villages.
The military column entered Balaba village from Kyu village on April 21, firing heavy weapons during their advance. They proceeded to loot civilian properties at will and systematically burned down houses over two consecutive days, resulting in the near-total destruction of the village. Currently, thousands of civilians from multiple villages including Kyu, Sinkyoe, Ywa Thit, Nyaung Pin, Kyaw Htin Kone, Mahti, Inma, Ngamyalay, Layapyi, Sinmaye, and Ngaze have been forced to flee to safety. Additionally, residents from Hintha, Alaysaung, Alaykyaw, and Zeepin Kone villages have also been displaced due to the military’s airstrikes. Local sources report that the military continues to shell villages south of Yesagyo town and engage in widespread looting, causing severe hardship for displaced civilians who are struggling to survive while evading military attacks.
