
The People’s Administration Group in Longlone Township, Tanintharyi Region, has arrested and taken action against individuals involved in drug distribution and use. Following a tip-off about drug trafficking activities in a village within Longlone Township on April 16th evening, a joint operation was conducted by the People’s Security Forces, People’s Administration Group, and People’s Defense Forces to investigate and arrest the suspects.
During the search operation, authorities arrested six suspects believed to be involved in drug trafficking and use. The suspects include a 53-year-old male, a 25-year-old male, and four females aged 19, 27, 20, and 17 years old. The authorities seized 314 WY-marked stimulant tablets, one knife, nine mobile phones, four power banks, over 100,000 kyats in cash, one motorcycle, and one car as evidence from the suspects.
According to an official from the Longlone Township People’s Administration Group, the arrested individuals are ordinary civilians with no connections to the military council. The suspects have been charged under Section 15/19(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and their case has been forwarded to the township criminal court. The official further stated that the People’s Administration Group will continue to work alongside revolutionary organizations and armed groups to maintain law and order, ensure public security, and carry out other public service activities within the township.
