A fierce battle broke out near Kyaukku Township village in Southern Shan State between the Danu People’s Liberation Army (DPLA) and military council forces, resulting in the surrender of three military council soldiers. The conflict began on April 21 in the afternoon when DPLA forces intercepted military council troops who were attempting to reinforce their positions in the Taung Kham area of Naung Cho Township. The engagement started at 12:30 PM and continued until 5:30 PM, during which the military council forces suffered casualties and three of their soldiers surrendered to the resistance forces. The DPLA also reported casualties on their side during the intense fighting.
Prior to this battle, the military council had been frequently conducting artillery strikes and aerial bombardments on villages surrounding the Kyaukku Township area. Local residents reported that these attacks had become increasingly common, causing significant disruption to civilian life in the region. The situation has been particularly tense in the Taung Kham village area, where allied forces including the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and DPLA maintain positions. The military council has been launching intense offensive operations against these positions, and fighting continues in the area as of the current time.
According to military reports, the period from January to April has seen a total of 67 separate engagements between the Danu People’s Liberation Army and military council forces, indicating a significant escalation of conflict in the region. The ongoing military operations have led to increased tensions and continued displacement of local civilian populations, with both sides reporting various tactical engagements and strategic movements throughout the area. The recent surrender of the three military council soldiers represents a notable development in the ongoing conflict, which has characterized the region’s security situation for several months.
