The People’s Defense Force in Pyin Oo Lwin District has confirmed that four civilians, including a five-month-old infant, were injured when the military council forces conducted an airstrike on Auk Zi Kone village in Sintgaing Township, Mandalay Region. The attack occurred around 3:30 PM on April 21, with the military council forces deliberately targeting the village despite there being no ongoing fighting in the area. Among the injured, a 60-year-old woman sustained severe injuries, while the other three victims’ conditions are not life-threatening.
The airstrike resulted in the destruction of three civilian homes and killed one cow and four pigs belonging to local residents. The military council forces have been conducting daily airstrikes on civilian areas in Sintgaing, Kyaukse, and Mattaya townships within Mandalay Region. As a result, revolutionary forces have advised local residents to construct bomb shelters and follow air raid safety protocols to protect themselves from these aerial attacks. The military’s targeting of civilian areas demonstrates a pattern of deliberate attacks on non-military targets.
On the evening of April 20, at around 10 PM, the military council forces also conducted an airstrike near the bridge at the entrance of Sintgaing town. While this attack only resulted in damage to a tree and no civilian casualties were reported, it exemplifies the military’s ongoing campaign of terror against civilian populations. The military council continues to target civilian areas under the pretext of fighting revolutionary forces, causing significant damage to civilian lives and property. These attacks have created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among local residents, who must now live under the constant threat of aerial bombardment. The military’s actions clearly demonstrate their disregard for civilian safety and their use of disproportionate force against their own people.
