A spokesperson from the Lingyun Brothers Guerrilla Force has confirmed that five soldiers were killed during an ambush on a military council convoy providing security for vehicles traveling from the 33rd Division in Sagaing to the Regional Command Headquarters in Monywa. The incident occurred on April 20 at approximately 4:10 PM when revolutionary forces attacked the security detail near Police Battalion 16 along the Sagaing-Monywa-Shwebo road. The convoy consisted of 10 military vehicles departing from the 33rd Division in Sagaing City heading towards the Regional Command Headquarters in Monywa.
During the attack, five military council soldiers were killed instantly, and three others sustained severe injuries requiring medical treatment. Although the military council forces returned fire, the revolutionary forces were able to withdraw successfully without suffering any casualties. The operation was jointly carried out by the Lingyun Brothers Guerrilla Force Sagaing and Sagaing PDF units. According to a representative from the Lingyun Brothers Guerrilla Force, the attack was conducted in response to the military convoy’s practice of stopping civilian vehicles and forcefully extorting money from travelers along their route.
The revolutionary forces continue to closely monitor military council movements within the Sagaing Region and have stated they will respond effectively to any acts of violence committed against civilians. The successful operation demonstrates the ongoing resistance against military council forces in the region and the coordination between various revolutionary groups fighting against the military council’s oppression of civilians. The incident highlights the continuing conflict in Sagaing Region, where revolutionary forces maintain active opposition against military council operations and their impact on local communities.
