The Public Movement Committee of Thaung Tha Township has confirmed that five civilians were killed in military airstrikes on Nan Twin village and Than Bo (New) village in Thaung Tha Township, Mandalay Region. On April 18 at approximately 2:40 PM, the military conducted an airstrike using fighter jets on Nan Twin village despite there being no active fighting in the area. The attack resulted in the death of two civilians, while five others were injured and seven houses were destroyed.
Subsequently, on April 21 at 2:45 AM, Than Bo (New) village was attacked with 11 bombs dropped from three military helicopters, again with no ongoing conflict in the area. This second attack claimed the lives of three civilians and left four others injured, while destroying two houses. Additionally, two cattle belonging to local residents were killed in the attack. Due to the military council’s deliberate targeting of civilian populations through continued airstrikes, the Thaung Tha Township Public Movement Committee has urged local residents to properly construct bomb shelters and take refuge in them whenever air raid warnings are issued.
