Revolutionary forces have successfully captured the military council’s Thee Hta strategic camp in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei District along the Thai-Myanmar border, resulting in numerous casualties including the strategic commander, according to Ko Aung Aung, Deputy Commander of Force for Federal (FFD). The operation, which concluded around 5:30 PM on April 19, was led by KNU/KNLA Brigade 4 in collaboration with FFD forces, People’s Defense Force members, and drone warfare trainees. The successful capture also resulted in the seizure of significant amounts of weapons and ammunition from the military council forces.
The siege of Thee Hta strategic camp began on April 12, with revolutionary forces establishing a blockade before launching their offensive. The camp, which housed hundreds of military council troops, was divided into three separate positions along a hillside. Two days into the battle, resistance forces managed to capture the first hill position near the village, and continued their offensive operations until achieving complete control of all positions by the evening of April 19. During the week-long battle, the military council employed air support including fighter jets, Y12, K-8W aircraft, and Mi-17 helicopters in attempts to defend their positions. The intense fighting forced local residents of the Thee Hta area to flee to safety across the Thai border.
The FFD is currently recruiting new members in Tanintharyi Region and other areas, with plans to continue their resistance against the military dictatorship through various means including drone technology, ground operations, and other technical capabilities. Ko Aung Aung emphasized that anyone wishing to join the fight for federal democracy can contact their organization through their official page to apply as new recruits. The successful operation demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in their campaign against the military council, particularly in their ability to coordinate complex operations involving multiple revolutionary groups and effectively utilize modern warfare technologies such as drones.
