A spokesperson from the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that their forces successfully attacked a Pyu Saw Htee camp based in Taung Nge village, Bokpyin Township, Tanintharyi Region, resulting in the death of Pyu Saw Htee leader Htay Win and the seizure of weapons and ammunition. The operation took place around 3 AM on April 16, when People’s Defense Force members launched a planned assault on the military-affiliated Pyu Saw Htee camp located in Shwe Gae Nyo village, which was operating under the control of the military council.
During the engagement, the Pyu Saw Htee group, which consisted of more than 10 members, suffered the loss of their leader Htay Win, while the remaining members fled the scene, abandoning their weapons and ammunition. One PDF member sustained a non-life-threatening leg injury during the operation. The successful raid resulted in the capture of significant military equipment, including 5 AK-type rifles, 1 carbine rifle, 3 M16 rifles, one 79mm launcher, five 40mm grenades, various ammunition, and related military supplies.
This battle marks a significant victory for the People’s Defense Forces in the Tanintharyi region and represents an effective response to the activities of military-affiliated Pyu Saw Htee groups. The seized materials, which also included one set of equipment, two ammunition boxes, and one communication radio, will enhance the operational capabilities of local resistance forces. Following the successful operation, all PDF members safely returned to their base. The operation demonstrates the growing effectiveness of resistance forces in challenging military council-affiliated groups in the region while maintaining their commitment to defending civilian populations from military oppression.
