According to statements from the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and local residents, the military council conducted aerial bombardments in Mogok Township on Myanmar’s traditional New Year’s Day. On April 17th at 10:00 AM, the military council’s jet fighter dropped a bomb on Kasut village in eastern Mogok, an area under TNLA control. The TNLA announced that they would continue to investigate and report on the damages and casualties resulting from this attack. The aerial assault occurred near the Masoeyin Monastery in eastern Mogok, with two separate bombing runs reported by local residents. The military council also targeted areas near Gazut region and the area below Shwe Leipya between Masoeyin Monastery and Nannwe.
Despite the military council’s declaration of a 20-day ceasefire from April 2nd to April 22nd, they have continued military operations including troop reinforcements, offensive operations, and aerial bombardments in TNLA-controlled territories, even in areas where there was no active fighting. The TNLA has reported that these military actions directly contradict the announced ceasefire, as the military council continues to conduct aerial attacks on civilian areas and strengthen their military presence in the region. These actions demonstrate the military council’s ongoing aggressive operations despite their public claims of seeking peace through the temporary ceasefire.
