Myanmar citizens living abroad staged a protest against AIRBUS company in Amsterdam, Netherlands, for its indirect involvement in the terrorist military council’s airstrikes. The demonstration took place on April 15 in front of Hotel Okura in Amsterdam, coinciding with AIRBUS shareholders’ meeting. The protesters accused AIRBUS of indirect complicity in war crimes and airstrikes against Myanmar civilians through its business cooperation with Chinese state-owned company AVIC. The demonstrators demanded that AIRBUS immediately cease its investments in activities related to war crimes in Myanmar and respect business and human rights standards.
The protesters emphasized that the European-based Airbus company’s collaboration with Chinese state-owned AVIC effectively supports the increasingly severe airstrikes occurring daily in Myanmar. They argued that such business relationships indirectly contribute to the military’s ability to conduct aerial attacks on civilians, and therefore called for an immediate end to these activities. The demonstration highlighted the growing concern over international companies’ indirect involvement in the Myanmar military’s operations through their business partnerships and investments.
