
The People’s Administration Team of Mindat Township has confirmed that six civilians, including an eight-month-old infant and a seven-year-old child, were killed in military council airstrikes in Mindat Township, Chin State. The attacks occurred around 9 PM on April 9th, when military council forces conducted two separate aerial bombardments on Phwi village in Mindat Township. The casualties from these airstrikes included an eight-month-old baby girl, a seven-year-old child, a disabled youth, two elderly persons in their seventies, and a Christian pastor.
The aerial attacks resulted in the destruction of twelve residential houses and a Christian church, with several homes being completely burned down according to local residents. In response to these devastating attacks, the Mindat Township People’s Administration Team provided financial assistance of 1,860,000 kyats to support the victims and their families. Additionally, local residents of Mindat contributed donations, bringing the total assistance amount to 3,340,000 kyats, which was distributed among the families of the deceased, those whose homes were destroyed, and individuals who sustained injuries during the attacks.
Similarly, on April 13th, the military council forces conducted another airstrike targeting the Mindat Town Baptist Christian Church compound. While there were no casualties in this particular attack, it caused extensive damage to buildings within the church compound, the District Education Office, and numerous residential buildings, government offices, and staff housing throughout the town. Ko Yo Man, the Information Officer of the Mindat Township People’s Administration Team, stated that mere condemnation of such brutal actions by the military council is no longer sufficient, and they will continue their efforts toward the complete elimination of the military dictatorship system.
