According to local residents, the military council troops fired artillery shells four times, with four shells landing and exploding within the village. The artillery attack and subsequent explosions also caused fires that destroyed four other houses in the village. A local resident stated, ‘Last night, Infantry Battalion 15 from Myingyan Township fired four artillery rounds at Left+Myarni village in Nyaung Thar Gyi Township. One shell landed on U Paw Thar’s house, killing him instantly, and five houses were destroyed by fire.’
This indiscriminate artillery attack by the military council forces, resulting in civilian casualties and destruction of homes, further demonstrates their brutal actions against civilians. Local residents are living in fear and uncertainty, with no security for their lives and property. The incident highlights the ongoing pattern of violence perpetrated by the military council against civilian populations in Myanmar, where innocent people continue to suffer from arbitrary attacks and destruction of their homes and livelihoods.
