According to local residents and officials from the Pyin Oo Lwin District People’s Defense Force, four civilians were injured and several buildings were damaged when the military council conducted an aerial bombardment on Kyat Yoe Pin village in Sagaing Township, Mandalay Region, despite there being no active fighting in the area. The attack occurred on April 11 at 10:21 PM when the military council’s jet fighter dropped a 200-pound bomb on the village.
The aerial attack resulted in injuries to four civilians, though their conditions are reported to be non-life-threatening. The bombing also destroyed the Golden Hill KTV building and approximately three residential homes, while also killing one cow. A representative from the Pyin Oo Lwin District People’s Defense Force revealed that despite the military council’s announcement of a temporary ceasefire, they continue to conduct aerial attacks, particularly in Sagaing, Singu, and Mattaya townships within the Pyin Oo Lwin District.
Local residents are currently facing significant hardships, including difficulties with basic necessities and displacement from their homes. The military council’s continued attacks have only exacerbated their suffering. Sources indicate that the military council is violating its own ceasefire agreement and committing war crimes against civilians. As a result, authorities have advised local residents to stay away from areas where military council troops are present, to construct bomb shelters for protection against air raids, and to carefully follow air raid warnings. The ongoing situation highlights the military council’s disregard for civilian safety and their continued use of excessive force against their own people, despite claims of seeking peace and reconciliation.
