A spokesperson from the Myinmu Township Information Team has confirmed that one child was killed and six civilians were injured when the military council forces launched an artillery attack on San Tin Kyin village in Sagaing Region’s Myinmu Township. The incident occurred around 9 PM on April 8, when military council troops stationed at the Bo Min Gyi checkpoint and Myaung junction fired seven artillery shells indiscriminately toward San Tin Kyin village.
The artillery shells struck residential areas within San Tin Kyin village, resulting in casualties among innocent civilians. Subsequently, at approximately 1 AM on April 9, military council forces stationed in Gwae Pin Taw village, in coordination with troops from the Bo Min Gyi checkpoint, conducted a raid on San Tin Kyin village. During this operation, they deliberately set fire to and destroyed four houses in the village, according to local sources.
Local residents point out that these deliberate attacks by the military council resulting in civilian casualties and deaths are part of systematic war crimes being committed against the civilian population. Currently, the injured are receiving medical treatment, while families whose homes were destroyed by fire have been forced to seek shelter with nearby relatives. The targeted nature of these attacks, resulting in civilian casualties and property destruction, demonstrates the ongoing pattern of violence against civilian populations in the region.
