A civilian woman was killed and three others were injured in an airstrike conducted by the military council forces near Yechaungbo village in Mattaya Township, Mandalay Region. The incident occurred on April 10, 2024, at approximately 11:41 AM when a fighter jet from Tada-U Air Force Base carried out two separate bombing raids on the area near Yechaungbo village.
According to local sources, the military council forces launched the airstrike after receiving intelligence about the presence of People’s Defense Forces in the vicinity of the village. The attack resulted in damage to several residential houses in the village, causing local residents to flee in terror. A representative from the District People’s Defense Force confirmed these details.
Local residents pointed out that such airstrikes on civilian-populated areas constitute violations of international law and amount to war crimes. The military council forces have been repeatedly conducting airstrikes and artillery attacks on civilians across Myanmar, resulting in daily casualties and injuries among innocent civilians. This incident represents another example of the military council’s ongoing campaign of violence against its own people, demonstrating a clear disregard for civilian lives and international humanitarian law.
